Thursday, 30th September 2004 (5535 views)

An 18-carat gold antique pocket watch, once owned by an Egyptian King, is to go on display for the first time at a special jewellery event.

The pocket watch was presented to King Fouad in 1929 and will now feature at Jewellery Arabia 2004, before it is auctioned in Switzerland in April next year.

A spokesman for Swiss auction house Antiquorum said: "There is tremendous interest from buyers for this watch, which has been estimated by experts at a value of $3 million to $4m."

According to Gulf Daily News, Antiquorum is going to use the jewellery event to showcase some of its rarest pieces, as it celebrates 30 years.

In addition the 'most complicated watch in the world' is to go on display - a pink gold Patek Philippe Calibre 89.
