Indian bridal expo attracts thousandsMonday, 6th September 2004 (6245 views) The first ever Indian bridal exposition at Lenasia in South Africa was a sell out, the Hindustan Times has reported.Thousands of people thronged to the Durban suburb to see the colourful outfits, jewellery and henna designs on display at the three-day show. Indian nationals who have settled there were designing traditional wedding wear and jewellery for brides and grooms, as well as painting intricate designs on hands and feet. Exhibitors told the Times that the hard business of selling would now take place in the follow-up of the months ahead. "Our daughter Amrita is getting married early next year and we have found everything here that we need," said Rani and Shruti Jivan, visitors who had come in from Pretoria. The winners of the Rand 21,000 Post 'how we met' competition were announced as Sharon Thakupersadh and her fiancee Geeran. They met through a matchmaking column in the local magazine.
