Golden watch celebrates 100th birthday

Thursday, 26th August 2004 (4448 views)

A new timepiece has been launched to commemorate the Santos de Cartier Watch, which is now a century old.

The watch was made by a pioneer in aviation, Alberto Santos-Dumont, and premier European jeweller Louis Cartier.

Now the watch has been revamped in the Santos 100 collection, which is available at select retail outlets, according to The Telegraph India.

The original piece mixed gold and steel with external screws and a leather strap, whilst the new watch has two designs.

Cartier has provided a choice of a steel watch or a solid gold item and claims the designs symbolise "elegance, refinement, daring and style".

A luxurious lavish version has also been created, which is encrusted with diamonds.
