An international jewellery convention is to be held in Chennai in October to showcase items made by a host of materials.

'Grass to Gold' will run for three days and feature jewellery made from grass and shells to gold or platinum, according to News Today.

The event, which will be held at the Taj Coromandel, will feature fashion shows, workshops, competitions and seminars.

Key figures from the industry are also set to appear at the event and offer their knowledge, including jewellery designers and craft experts.

The jewellery conference is being organised by the Craft Council of India, the office of the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts, the Ministry of Textiles and India's government.
