Eye jewellery looking popular in the US

Wednesday, 11th August 2004 (3795 views)

The recently launched eyeball jewellery is now trying to make its mark on US consumer's eyes as it moves to LA.

One ophthalmologist has been reassuring consumers the procedure is safe and is the first one in the US to perform the procedure.

Robert K. Maloney, director of Los Angeles' Maloney Vision Institute offers the eyeball jewellery for $3,900 for a process which takes around 15 minutes.

However, although Mr Maloney claims the jewellery is as safe as coloured contact lenses many other members of his field have raised concerns.

According to Big News Network, other US ophthalmologists are worried the jewellery may cause chronic eye redness, irritation and maybe even infection.
