US hosts Italian jewellery awardsWednesday, 28th July 2004 (5940 views) The popularity of Italian jewellery in the US was discussed this week at a special dinner gala held in New York.A collection of jewellers were awarded at the event including Ben Bridge Jewelers, Jill Newman - a journalist specialising in coverage of fine jewellery, gemstones and watches and Lauren Kulchinsky, co-vice president of Mayfair Diamonds and Fine Jewellery. Speaking at the event, Ed Bridge, president and chief executive officer of Ben Bridge Jewellers said: "Italian jewellery: just the words make the American consumer's heart beat a little faster." Over 300 people attended the event, which also included a four-part fashion preview of the latest designs by 40 Italian jewellers, according to National Jeweler. Among the new looks set to be popular in the sector were 20s and 30s, tribal looks and classic styles. The event was co-sponsored by the Vincenza Trade Fair, the Italian Trade Commission, Trends & Jewellery Forecasting, and Giuliana Teso.
