Miner's Jamboree celebrates history of gold

Thursday, 15th July 2004 (3265 views)

In the first of its kind, the Oregon Gold Miner's Jamboree is being held this weekend to celebrate the history of gold in the area.

The event will include a collection of mining-related activities such as gold panning contests, kids events and a metal-detecting treasure hunt.

In addition drawings, food and music are also on offer, according to The News Review.

Reportedly people with the relevant permits will also be able to dredge or power sluice around the area too.

The location, Myrtle Creek, is a gold bearing area and has had a history of gold production from the 1800s.
