A man from Chorley believes his dowsing rods could hold the key to the mystery of what happened to the Nazi gold.

Jim Longton claims his rods have pointed him in the right direction and he has embarked on a journey travelling to Hitler's lair in Germany to discover the gold.

Mr Loughton told This is Chorley: "I already know where it is."

Dowsing is an ancient technique which uses the earth's energy to find objects underground, rods are usually a forked piece of wood in a Y shape and are sometimes said to involve psychic abilities.

The Nazi gold is thought to have been stolen from banks and people in countries occupied by the Germans during 1945-1947.

Although many experts have tried to find the location of the precious metal, Mr Loughton believes his rods will help solve the 60-year-old mystery.
