A collection of jewellery formed a host of wedding gifts on display in Australia by Crown Prince Frederik and Australian-born Crown Princess Mary.

Around 1800 wedding gifts were given to the couple last month by communities, companies and officials, that included wristwatches and jewellery.

The exhibition also included a $399,854 copy of a small 900-year-old gold-covered copper shrine.

Lord Chamberlain Ove Ullerup, head of the royal household told The Courier-Mail: "This is an overwhelmingly large amount of presents…The couple will do its best to find use for every item…None of them will be given away."

The couple were married on May 14 and it is not revealed which exact gifts are being kept on show or stored elsewhere.

One item that did not go on display was the couples wedding ring made of gold form Greenland's first gold mine.
