Gold rushes to ScotlandFriday, 28th May 2004 (5346 views) A number of events are taking place in Scotland designed to bring gold related fun to visitors and locals alike in parts of the highlands.This weekend, the British Gold Panning Championships will be held at the Museum of Lead Mining, where expert panners will pit their skills against each other in public. The museum will remain open every day up until October 31st this year, offering visitors free lessons on traditional gold panning and information of the great California Gold Rush of the 1840s. Scottish gold-lovers can indulge in Ola Gorie Scottish and Celtic Jewellery, genuine regional pieces crafted in Orkney by specialist teams. The Celtic Treasures collection offers classic gold designs, and wedding rings are also available bearing the words "Eilean Donan", representing the ancient Gaelic endearment "My love is upon you".
