Tuesday, 25th May 2004 (4569 views)

The Russian jewellery industry needs to develop international export relations according to a chairman of industry and commerce.

Speaking at a discussion for the jewellery market and international cooperation, chairman of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Committee of precious metals and gemstones, V.Rudakov, discussed souvenirs, watches and jewellery exhibition.

Mr Rudakov argued the rapid development of the Russian jewellery industry could be boosted and supported by better export relations and a consolidation of the industry in Russia itself, according to Jeweller Net.

Key issues identified by Mr Rudakov were rules governing jewellers' behaviour, problems and questions to be solved at public jewellery organisations and VAT for precious metals buying.

It is hoped by focusing on these areas Russian jewellers will be able to compete in the world market.
