Gold ring found after nearly four decades

Friday, 21st May 2004 (3221 views)

A gold wedding ring has been discovered in a US lake nearly 40 years after it was lost.

The heavy gold band inscribed with both the bride and groom's initials was lost during water skiing at Prospect Lake back in 1965, according to the Denver Channel.

It was only found as a result of current draining work being conducted by the city.

Widow Carolyn Case-Greening claimed the discovery was "a total miracle" and it is a particularly big find as her husband, who the ring belonged to, died 16 years ago.

A host of treasure seekers with metal detectors have all come out to hunt for items in the lake before the city relines and refills it.
