Gold jewellery collection stolen in car theftThursday, 20th May 2004 (4079 views) Gold and platinum jewellery worth almost £1 million was stolen at a Swindon petrol station from a customer's car.The 18 carat gold jewellery was stolen from the vehicle when the victim went to pay for petrol and the car was locked. Detective Constable Paul Hacker of Wiltshire Police who is investigating the case explained that although car theft is common the "high value involved in this theft is very rare". The jewellery was held in a black case and it is believed the event might have been a pre-planned snatch. Police do not want to fully reveal the exact value of the missing goods, although they are known to be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
