Jewellery exhibition explores different worlds of goldTuesday, 23rd March 2004 (3424 views) A host of gold jewellery items will be among others displayed in a new jewellery exhibition to be held this May.The Newark Museum will be holding the 'Baubles, Bangles and Bling Bling: A World of Jewelry' to highlight the many ways jewellery is used to convey different meanings. Three sections will make up the exhibition - Life Passages, Status and Power and Spirituality and Belief, according to Art Daily. Gold items will be used to show how the precious metal has always been used as a sign of wealth and has particular healing and spiritual powers. The display contains items from the Americas, the Mediterranean and Asia and is innovative in its curatorial approach using an approach that covers both the similarities and differences between the varied use of jewellery in different areas.
