Pakistani experts drive Bahraini gold jewellery industryFriday, 27th February 2004 (10635 views) Gold experts from Pakistan have been boosting the Bahraini gold jewellery industry for more than three decades, according to a former jeweller.Kalim Ullah Faridi said that Bahrain's fine jewellery industry should be learning skills from veteran Pakistani jewellers, who have helped the industry to thrive. Mr Faridi told Gulf Daily News that Pakistani gold craftsmen had made a significant contribution in the gold business sector and claimed that new generations of Bahraini youngsters should learn the gold craft skills and then set up their own workshops, to ensure the industry continues to boom. 'Bahrain has been a leader in the gold jewellery manufacturing business for more than three decades, thanks largely to the Pakistani goldsmiths here he said. Mr Faridi added that a potential increase in tourists would mean a booming gold business in Bahrain. Mr Faridi left Bahrain for Lahore in 1999, after 23 years as owner of Al Jazira Jewellers, in the Manama suq. During his time in Bahrain, he joined the Pakistan Club in 1976 and served on the executive board of the club for a total of four terms.
