Gold jewellery was among the leading lights of this year's annual Jewellers of America competition in New York.

A series of elaborately decorated pieces were honoured at the awards ceremony, suggesting the precious yellow metal is once more en vogue.

Winners at the 14th annual JA Affiliate Design Competition, which was staged at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre, included Jason Baskin for his 10.05-carat green tourmaline, diamond and gold pendant necklace.

Jack Demerjian of J. Demere Designs in Michigan also took home honours for his white and yellow gold necklace with a 12.52-carat citrine.

The competition brings together the cream of American jewellers, honouring those who have crafted the finest pieces in a variety of categories.
