A new museum showcasing the Nizam's priceless gold jewellery is likely to be set up beside the Gems and Jewellery Park at Hyderabad, India, it has been revealed.

The museum is expected to be constructed after the Indian Government approves the plans and design submitted by the state.

The state government, re-housing the Nizam's jewels for reasons including security issues, favoured a site at Banjara Hills where the Gems Park is now being constructed.

The jewels, mainly collected by Mir Osman Ali Pasha, the last ruler of the erstwhile Niz-am state, will remain the property of the Indian government

The collection includes over 350 objects made of gold and silver, many elaborately carved.

One of the highlights of the priceless collection is a wooden chair coated with gold, especially made for the silver-jubilee celebrations of Nizam Osman.

A showroom to sell replicas of the Nizam's jewellery is also proposed for the museum premises.
