India Post is the world’s largest postal network with more than 155,000 post offices spread across the entire country.
India Post, in association with the World Gold Council, has initiated a campaign for the sale of high quality 24 carat gold coins of different denominations across more than 630 post offices around the country. These superior grade gold coins are produced by Valcambi, Switzerland, and marketed in association with the World Gold Council, with Reliance Money Infrastructure Limited as the supplier and back-end service provider for this project.
The project has the potential to reach 155,000 post offices in the future, thereby reaching out to far corners of India and forming part of a social movement advocating the importance of buying gold on a regular basis. The mass appeal and success of this project can also be attributed to the fact that Indian citizens save with and trust the post office. With this initiative, the World Gold Council, along with Indian Post, strives to penetrate the most inaccessible areas of India over a period of time.
